All Saints Memorial Garden
Trinity
Church has long been home in many ways to many people. With the
establishment of the All Saints' Meditation and Memorial Garden on
the south lawn, we invite you to make a final home here among
Trinity's "cloud of witnesses."
For theological, ecological and practical reasons, many want their
ashes to be interred at the church where they have lived and
worshipped rather than in a commercial cemetery. The Memorial Garden
adds the tradition of the "churchyard" to Trinity Church.
The Memorial Garden is a quiet place in which to meditate and
reflect. We have furnished it with a table which can be used to
celebrate an outdoor Eucharist, and benches. Visitors can read a
book, hold a meeting, or simply eat lunch in this serene setting. A
fountain burbles softly in the middle of a small labyrinth, and
trees, flowers and shrubs add to the quiet in the midst of the
city's bustle. The granite tablet that bears the names of those
interred and remembered here reminds us that we live among those who
have gone before us.
The All Saints' Garden is under the control and management of the
Vestry of Trinity Church. Charges for interment or remembrance
enable the parish to care permanently for the Garden. Ashes (loose
or in biodegradable containers) mingle in the earth of the Garden.
Our clergy can assist in providing an appropriate service of
committal.
